2023 School Committee Election
The School Committee Election is an important opportunity for all of us to advocate for greater racial and social justice in education.
Rather than endorse candidates, WEJA sends out a list of policy questions to assess how each candidate aligns with with WEJA’s core values.
This year, we sent out 30 questions about Curriculum & Testing, Funding & New School Development, Staffing & Educator Experience, Student Health & Safety, and Community Voice & Accountability. We gave candidates 0, 1/2, or 1 point for each response based on how they compared to WEJA’s ideal answers.
In addition to their overall percentage, the full answers of each candidate are accessible below. Regardless of if you agree with WEJA’s preferred answer, digging into each candidates questionnaire can allow you to decide how each candidate aligns with your own values and viewpoints.
